Problem statement:
The banking and credit sectors urgently need technical skills in both the credit- and risk-assessment disciplines in financial services.
|
Partner(s):
Guarantee Trust Corporate Support Services (GTCSS) is a work-readiness company specializing in developing financial services skills and job placement. Since 2003, GTCSS has worked with the SETA for Finance, Accounting, Management Consulting and other Financial Services and BANKSETA to place candidates in financial services jobs. For the Jobs Fund scale-up initiative, GTCSS is once again partnering with BANKSETA.
|
Intervention:
The Work Readiness Programme prepares and places young, unemployed tertiary-level graduates and matriculants for permanent jobs in the banking and credit-risk fields. It selects candidates through a rigorous screening and interview process to test their numeracy, literacy and communication ability. Shortlisted candidates are trained in soft and technical skills, including courses in communication, professional conduct and office orientation. The programme uses a virtual bank simulation to provide practical training. After training, the programme matches and places candidates in jobs in the banking and credit fields. The GTCSS uses its longstanding relationships in the industry to secure permanent placements for successful candidates.
